About
This blog is complimentary to my portfolio site. As new tools and techniques get introduced on the Web, I want to experiment with them. I might also use some of those experiments in my projects. But here’s the other fun part: Every now and then, I’ll be mixing things up with posts including my thoughts from the vantage point of someone who is a young person, a journalist and an African American.
What’s “Gumbo Ya Ya” mean? Glad you asked. In Creole culture, gumbo ya ya refers to everyone talking all at once, i.e. at a loud party. I first heard this phrase from a family friend, who referred to her business as a gumbo ya ya. She would make some of the best jambalaya and lemon pound cake and sell the food out of her home. The phrase just stuck with me over the years. Since part of my family is Creole, I decided to use this phrase to describe my blog. So there you have it.
